For students between the ages of 6 and 12. An introduction to the language of music, both written and aural. Students should be currently enrolled in private music lessons or in a school band, 管弦乐队, 或唱诗班.

Dennis Holden-Northerner earned his Masters in Music Education and Bachelor of Music in Music Education with an emphasis on applied percussion performance at Old Dominion University under Professor David L. 沃克. He teaches and performs all over the Hampton Roads area in all areas of percussion, such as snare drum, mallet percussion, 鼓组, 定音鼓, auxiliary percussion, 还有手鼓.

Beginning Level Vocal or Instrumental training

Prepare the students to:
- Analyze the material they are working on
- Understand and read notes on treble and bass clefs
- Understand time signatures, note values, and rhythms
- Recognize intervals by ear and notation
- Understand Scales and Triads
- Understand 4-measure phrases
- Receive encouragement to write and notate simple melodies and harmonies
